ASMA News and Journal - Fall 2017

Brent Jensen was featured on the front cover and in a five-page article in the Fall 2017 issue of ASMA News and Journal, a publication of The American Society of Marine Artists. I appreciate the seriousness of this publication with footnotes and was informed that each issue is cataloged in the Library of Congress.  It details my genealogy back to Nantucket and my artist path and philosophy in a way that has not previously been presented to the public.

Brent Jensen’s oil painting of the 1886 Annadel Estate farmhouse was used for the wine bottle label of their 2013 Viognier release.

Mahoney Vineyards - Carneros Ranch Winery Wine Bottle Labels

Brent Jensen’s oil painting of  sheep grazing in Petaluma was used for two 2016 wine bottle labels at Mahoney Vineyards Carneros Ranch a Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay. They won bold medals and I've tried both and they are both delicious wines.

Art Competition Judge

I welcome the opportunity to provide demonstrations and judge art competitions. I will be one of the jurors for the 26th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition at Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, Oregon. Exhibition runs July 13 through September 28, 2019. Previous events for which I was a judge include: San Leandro Art Association - April 2015;  Sebastopol Apple Blossom Art Show - April 2014; The Vacaville Art League & Gallery - June 2013; Fremont Art Association - October 2011; and La Quinta Art Festival - June 2007

Art Demonstrations

Fortunately, I am able to paint and talk at the same time. When I give a live art demonstration, attendees are able to watch and listen at the same time. This ability enhances the learning opportunity and enjoyment of the experience. Over the years, I have demonstrated at galley reception openings, art events, private art clubs and workshops. I believe in giving back to the art community.

Circle the Wagen

My painting, The Croc, was painted during my Route 66 paint trip. It was used in Circle the Wagen, a feature-length buddy/roadtrip/docu-dramedy by Ryan Steven Green about the vintage Volkswagen subculture in America.

Private Lessons and Workshops

If you are in the San Francisco, East or North Bay area, I am available for individualized half-day or longer mentoring opportunities tailored to your specific goals. Contact me at 415.307.7779 or click to email Brent. You can also notify Brent if you would like to be added to the mailing list for future semi-private workshops.

Plein Air Paint Trips

Brent Jensen has traveled extensively. His plein air paint trips include international destinations such as England, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, and Nova Scotia.

Living in Northern California affords Brent many plein air painting opportunities from San Francisco cityscapes, to the wine country and the Pacific coastline. He also drove across the United States twice, painting along the way. Brent has a special affinity to New England and has enjoyed numerous paint trips to various New England states.

Art Philosophy

As a traditional Impressionist style oil painter, Brent strives to create museum-quality art. His painting technique uses a loose approach, limited palette, and objective perspective so that any two viewers are able to differently interpret one of his paintings. He believes a properly selected composition that is well-executed brings a lifetime of enjoyment to a collector.
